2.90" Trout Worm

A longer soft-plastic trout worm with a slim body, clean shape, and natural bend that gives trout a bigger target without turning the bait into a bulky profile. The 2.90" Trout Worm is built for floats, light jig heads, slow drifts, tailwaters, stocked trout, and fish that need a bait to hang, swing, or slide through the lane.

Short Product Description

The Table Rock Baits 2.90" Trout Worm is a longer soft-plastic trout bait with a slim worm profile and natural movement, made for float rigs, light jig heads, slow current drifts, stocked trout ponds, tailwaters, creeks, and trout that want more profile than a shorter finesse worm.

Pack Quantity & Size Down

Each pack contains 10 baits. Want a shorter, more compact trout worm for lighter bites? Step down to the 2.00" Trout Worm.

Longer worm profile. More swing. Built for trout lanes.

The 2.90" Trout Worm gives you a longer profile when trout need something easier to see, easier to track, or easier to follow through moving water. The slim body keeps it from feeling bulky, while the added length gives the bait a natural bend and swing on a drift, under a float, or with a slow jig-head retrieve.

This is the trout worm to reach for when fish are cruising, following, holding in current seams, or spread out enough that a tiny bait is hard for them to find. Fish it through tailwater lanes, stocked trout ponds, slow pools, soft edges, eddies, marina water, shallow runs, and deeper holding zones. Created and tested on Table Rock Lake and Lake Taneycomo, then proven across clear, stained, muddy, and brackish water, this profile is made to adjust with color, weight, depth, drift speed, and how long you let it stay in front of fish.

Why It Works

  • 2.90" length gives trout a larger target without going to a bulky bait.
  • Slim worm profile keeps the bait natural on floats, drifts, and light jig-head presentations.
  • Added length creates more swing, bend, and visual presence in current or slow retrieves.
  • Good choice when trout are active enough to track a bigger bait but still want a clean profile.
  • Easy to adjust with float depth, jig-head weight, scent, color, pause length, and drift speed.

Best For

  • Stocked trout in ponds, lakes, community water, marina areas, and open cruising lanes.
  • Tailwater trout holding in current seams, slow edges, eddies, soft breaks, and drift lanes.
  • Fish that need more visibility than a shorter trout worm but still shy away from loud action.
  • Cloudy days, stained water, deeper lanes, moving water, and situations where profile matters.

How To Fish It

  • Float it: set the depth and let the worm hang, swing, and drift through the lane.
  • Drift it: cast across or slightly upstream and let current move the bait naturally.
  • Slow swim it: use a light jig head and bring it back just fast enough to keep it tracking clean.
  • Pause it: let the worm settle or hang when fish follow but do not finish right away.

Rigging Notes

  • Thread it straight enough to track clean, but do not be afraid of a little natural bend in the worm.
  • Use lighter heads or floats when you want more hang time and a slower, more natural presentation.
  • Go heavier when current, wind, depth, or deeper holding water makes contact more important.
  • If trout nip the end, shorten the pause, add scent, adjust float depth, or size down to the 2.00" worm.

Color Notes

With a longer trout worm, color should help the fish find and track the bait. Bright colors can be excellent for stocked trout, clouds, stain, or moving water. Cleaner colors can be better when fish are pressured or looking closely. Start with visibility, then adjust based on follows, taps, and how hard fish commit.

Clear Water / Bright Sun Start with white, pearl, monkey milk, smoke, clear flake, light blue, pale violet, and subtle translucent colors.
Stained Water / Clouds Move toward chartreuse, lime, bubblegum, orange, purple, white, glow-style colors, and stronger flake.
Stocked Trout / Active Fish Bubblegum, chartreuse, lime, white, orange, and bright purple can help trout locate and commit to the longer profile.
Cold Front / Pressured Fish Back down to cleaner colors, slow the drift, lighten the head, and let the worm hang longer in the strike zone.

When To Size Down

  • Stay with the 2.90" when trout are cruising, tracking, or need more profile to find the bait.
  • Move to the 2.00" Trout Worm when fish are pecking, short-striking, or acting pressured.
  • Use the longer worm in stain, current, low light, or stocked trout situations where visibility helps.
  • Size down when trout keep nipping the tail but will not take the whole bait.

Scent Notes

  • No scent is fine when trout are chasing, freshly stocked, or reacting to color and movement.
  • Add scent when drifting slow, fishing cold water, or dealing with fish that tap and let go.
  • Scent can help trout hold on longer when you are fishing floats, long pauses, and slow current lanes.
