Crappie & Panfish
Trout
1.5" Twister Grub
A compact curly-tail grub with a short ribbed body and one active twister tail. The 1.5" Twister Grub is built for crappie, panfish, and trout when you want a small profile that still has steady tail action on a slow swim, drift, float rig, or light jig head.
The Table Rock Baits 1.5" Twister Grub is a compact soft-plastic bait with a ribbed body and single curled twister tail, made for crappie, panfish, and trout on light jigs, float rigs, current drifts, slow retrieves, and small-profile presentations that need extra tail movement.
Each pack contains 14 baits. Hand made to order and built for light-line presentations where tail action, color, fall speed, and depth control matter.
Small grub body. One tail that keeps turning.
The Twister Grub is a simple shape for a reason. The short ribbed body gives fish a compact target with a little texture and profile. The single curled tail adds steady movement without needing a hard retrieve or big rod snaps. It works when you want more action than a straight-tail bait, but you still need the bait to stay small and easy to eat.
Fish it around brush piles, docks, shade, current seams, stocked trout water, weed edges, and suspended fish. It can be slow-swum, drifted, hung under a float, or held nearly still with just enough movement to keep the tail alive. Created and tested on Table Rock Lake and Lake Taneycomo, then proven across clear, stained, muddy, and brackish water, this is a practical little profile for days when fish want motion without a big meal.
Why It Works
- Compact 1.5" body gives crappie, panfish, and trout a small target that is easy to finish.
- Ribbed body adds texture, grip, and water feel without making the bait bulky.
- Single curled tail turns on slow retrieves, drifts, float rigs, and light jig presentations.
- Good choice when fish want more movement than a straight-tail minnow or bug profile.
- Easy to adjust with jig-head weight, float depth, retrieve speed, drift speed, and color family.
Best For
- Crappie around brush piles, docks, standing timber, shade lines, laydowns, and suspended fish.
- Panfish around weed edges, dock posts, shallow cover, small forage, and light-bite conditions.
- Trout in tailwaters, stocked ponds, creeks, current seams, marina edges, and slow drift lanes.
- Days when fish are willing to chase a little, but still want a compact bait profile.
How To Fish It
- Slow swim it: use a light jig head and retrieve just fast enough to keep the tail turning.
- Drift it: let current or wind move the bait naturally while the curly tail works behind it.
- Fish it under a float: set the depth and let the bait hang or move through the lane.
- Vertical jig it: use short lifts, small shakes, and controlled falls around cover or suspended fish.
Rigging Notes
- Thread it straight so the ribbed body tracks clean and the curled tail runs freely.
- Use lighter heads when you want a slower fall, more hang time, and better tail movement at low speed.
- Go slightly heavier when wind, current, depth, or deeper cover makes contact more important.
- If the tail is not turning, slow down, lighten the head, or check that the bait is rigged straight.
Color Notes
The Twister Grub already gives you tail movement, so color should help fish locate the bait and decide to finish. Keep it natural when fish are close-looking. Add contrast when water color, wind, low light, or depth makes a small bait harder to track.
Season Notes
- Spring: good around shallow crappie, stocked trout, docks, weed edges, and fish feeding high in the water.
- Summer: fish shade, deeper brush, current seams, suspended fish, and slow retrieves through open lanes.
- Fall: a strong choice when fish are chasing small forage and responding to steady tail movement.
- Winter: slow down, use lighter heads or floats, and keep the bait in front of fish longer.
Scent Notes
- No scent is fine when fish are chasing or you are covering water.
- Add scent when fishing cold water, slow drifts, floats, or vertical presentations.
- Scent can help trout, crappie, and panfish hold on longer when bites are light.
