1.25" Micro Finesse Urchin

A compact urchin-style soft plastic with a rounded center body and fine radiating legs that quiver with very little movement. The 1.25" Micro Finesse Urchin is built for crappie, panfish, trout, and BFS bass when fish are pressured, suspended, feeding small, or just need something different held in front of them.

Short Product Description

The Table Rock Baits 1.25" Micro Finesse Urchin is a compact soft-plastic urchin bait with a small center body and fine outer legs, made for crappie, panfish, trout, and BFS bass on micro jig heads, float rigs, hover-style presentations, slow drops, and light-line finesse setups.

Pack Quantity & Size Up

Each pack contains 10 baits. Want the same urchin idea with more presence and a larger target? Step up to the 1.75" Micro Finesse Urchin.

Tiny center. Fine legs. A lot of subtle life.

The 1.25" Micro Finesse Urchin is built for the kind of bite where fish are looking, following, and tapping but not fully committing. The center body gives the bait a small target. The fine legs spread out around it and move with almost no effort, so the bait can sit, fall, drift, or hover without looking dead.

This profile is especially useful when fish are feeding on tiny bugs, fry, small invertebrates, micro baitfish, or anything that looks easy to pick off. Fish it around brush, docks, standing timber, shade, current seams, trout lanes, marina edges, suspended crappie, and BFS bass targets. Created and tested on Table Rock Lake and Lake Taneycomo, then proven across clear, stained, muddy, and brackish water, this urchin gives you a different look when straight tails, grubs, and shad profiles are not getting finished.

Why It Works

  • 1.25" size gives pressured fish a small target without removing movement from the bait.
  • Round center body gives crappie, trout, panfish, and BFS bass something easy to pin down.
  • Fine radiating legs quiver on the fall, under a float, in current, or with tiny rod movement.
  • Good change-up when fish ignore straight-tail minnows, paddle tails, or standard grub profiles.
  • Works well when fish are suspended, cold-front affected, feeding small, or holding tight to cover.

Best For

  • Crappie around brush piles, docks, standing timber, shade lines, suspended cover, and light-bite schools.
  • Bluegill, perch, and mixed panfish feeding on tiny insects, fry, larvae, and small natural forage.
  • Trout in tailwaters, stocked ponds, current seams, slow drifts, marina edges, and clear-to-stained water lanes.
  • BFS bass around rock, docks, creek arms, pressured banks, small baitfish, and finesse target casting.

How To Fish It

  • Micro jig it: use a small head and let the bait fall or pendulum instead of working it too hard.
  • Hover it: hold it near fish when they are following but need more time to commit.
  • Fish it under a float: set the depth and let the legs move with wind, current, and tiny twitches.
  • Slow drift it: let current carry the bait naturally through trout lanes or suspended crappie zones.

Rigging Notes

  • Use lighter jig heads when you want a slow fall, longer hang time, and more natural leg movement.
  • Go slightly heavier when wind, current, depth, or deeper cover makes contact more important.
  • Keep rod movement small. This bait is made to quiver, hover, shake, and drift more than snap.
  • For BFS bass, try small ball heads, micro finesse heads, hover-style rigs, or light-line target presentations.

Color Notes

With an urchin profile, color is about visibility, contrast, and mood. The shape already gives fish something different to inspect. Start with the water in front of you, then adjust based on whether fish are tracking it, tapping it, or ignoring it.

Clear Water / Bright Sun Start with monkey milk, smoke, pearl, clear flake, natural baitfish, light purple, ghost tones, and subtle translucent colors.
Stained Water / Clouds Move toward chartreuse, white, pink, orange, purple, stronger flake, or two-tone colors so fish can find the small profile.
Muddy Water / Low Light Use contrast. Hunter orange, chartreuse, black, glow-style colors, dark flake, and louder bodies help the bait stand out.
Cold Front / Pressured Fish Back down to cleaner colors, lighten the head, slow the fall, and let the legs move without adding too much action.

When To Size Up

  • Choose the 1.25" when fish are pecking, suspended, cold-front affected, or feeding on tiny forage.
  • Move to the 1.75" Micro Finesse Urchin when you need more presence, a slower visual target, or a bigger bite profile.
  • Stay small when fish follow but flare away from bulkier baits.
  • Size up when fish are active, water is stained, or you need the bait to be easier to find.

Season Notes

  • Spring: good around shallow crappie, bedding panfish, stocked trout, docks, brush, and small forage zones.
  • Summer: fish shade, deeper brush, current seams, marina lanes, and suspended fish with a slow fall or hover.
  • Fall: strong when fish are tracking fry, small baitfish, insects, and scattered young-of-year forage.
  • Winter: slow down, use light heads or floats, and keep the bait in front of fish with minimal movement.
